Michael B. Linton


  Michael Linton

Michael Linton came to First Baptist Church of Sulphur, in August, 2016. He is married to Etta, and they have four children: Jamie, Jaden, Jase, and Janie Marie. Michael was born in Meridian, MS and raised in Alabama and Louisiana. He holds a General Studies degree from Texas A&M-Texarkana and a Master of Divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Michael has served in churches in Texas, and Louisiana before coming to Sulphur.

Thomas I. Bruce

 Minister to Families



Tom Bruce, a native of Sulphur, graduated Sulphur High School in 1985 and enrolled in McNeese State University in 1989 to pursue a Business degree. While at McNeese, Tom experienced God’s call into student ministry. Soon after, he began making plans to pursue that calling. He had the privilege of starting his new ministry at Belview Baptist Church in Westlake from 1987 to 1989.

After graduating McNeese in 1989, Tom moved to Texas where he enrolled in Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. During his seminary career, Tom worked on the SWBTS Campus, with the YMCA, served as part time youth minister in several area churches, and met his wife, Amy. Tom and Amy both graduated SWBTS in 1994.

While in Texas, Tom served as Minister of Youth and Education at Main Street Baptist Church in Grand Saline for five years, and as Minister of Youth at Central Baptist Church in Bryan. Tom has been serving here at FBCS as Minister of Youth and Family Activities since May 2001 until December 2008. In January 2009, Tom began serving here as Minister of Education, Missions, and Outreach. Tom has recently taken the position as Minister of Families in April 2017. Tom and Amy have two children: Joel and Hannah.

Amy E. Bruce

Minister to Children and Discipleship

Amy Bruce has served as Children’s Minister at FBCS since January 2002. She is a native of Mobile, Alabama where she graduated from the University of Mobile with a degree in Early Childhood Education. She went on to complete her Master’s Degree in Children’s Ministry at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas.

While in Fort Worth, Amy met and married her husband, Tom. Amy and Tom have two children, Joel, born in 1997 and Hannah, born in 2000.
